Wing historian preserves past and future events
ANDREWS AIR FORCE BASE, Md. -- John DeShetler, 11th Wing Staff historian, inspects the condition of the ‘Andrews Airfield,’ one of the first newspapers published in 1946. Assigned as one of two historians at the 11 WG history office, he provides substantive periodic history reports and historical services that meet the needs of the wing's commanders and staffs. Mr. DeShetler also conducts research, serves as advisor for historical exhibits and displays, and coordinates the approval of unit emblems, lineage, honors, and organizational flags. Other historical products include heritage pamphlets, studies, and monographs through the collection, organization, analysis, and interpretation of primary source documents. The 79th Medical Wing participates in Capital Shield 11 Exercise
ANDREWS AIR FORCE, Md. -- The ambulance team prepares a patient for the decon team during the Capital Shield 11 Exercise Oct. 13 here. The exercise went a long way in helping the region develop plans for dealing with regional mass casualty, treatment and patient movement capabilities between Department of Defense and civilian partners across the National Capital Region.
