12/30/2014 - JOINT BASE ANDREWS, Md. -- Joint Base Andrews is scheduled to hold a free air show, featuring the Air Force's premier aerial demonstration team, the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds, Sept 19, 2015.

The 2015 Joint Base Andrews Air Show will commemorate the Air Force's 68th birthday, the 100th anniversary of the Naval Reserves, along with other major military milestones to be announced at a later date.

"The 2015 JBA Air Show marks the return of the largest military event in the Nation Capital Region and will culminate the Air Force's birthday celebration," said Col. Brad Hoagland, Joint Base Andrews and 11th Wing commander. "The Thunderbirds demonstrate the Air Force's air superiority."

The air show will also feature a myriad of attractions on the ground to include static displays of modern and vintage/legacy aircraft, and Joint Base Andrews assets such as the USAF Honor Guard and the USAF Band.

"The Air Show is Joint Base Andrews' opportunity to say thank you to our community, the state and the National Capital Region for all their incredible support, and we hope everyone will come out and enjoy the show."

The show will feature entertainment for all ages.

"We have been working with local community partners from Prince Georges' County and across the NCR. We are expecting an awe-inspiring experience for the public," said Maj. Marc Milligan, JBA Airshow 2015 director.

The air show will be open to all interested in attending. More details on aerial performances will be available at a later date.

i thought the show was good and well attended. My grandchildren learned a lot and so did I. I do feel like the ground activity on the air strip was useless because most could not see it. Also there were too many breaks in the choreography with the air show.I believe when you have family events it must cater to all ages. Overall the entire day was great

I am so pleased to see this event coming to Andrews. The last Thunderbirds show I saw was a few years ago in New England at Otis AFB. Five of us will be coming to this oneRev. M. Vincent TurnerSSGT USAFSS '62 - '66

I think it's a nice position to be in when you're able to see the Blue Angels and the Thunderbirds during the same weekend. Go to one show on Friday and travel down to the other show on Saturday. SWEEEEEEEEEETTTTTTTTTTTT

Thank you for bringing back the air show Holding the air show in September is a terrific idea as the weather will be cooler than hot and humid May. Some years it was so hot that we didn't go. The hot and humid part is going through the long time consuming security lines in the sun...

I am so extremely happy to see this return. In my personal experience shows such as this one is a great way to First educate the public and second help inspire awe and respect in children. I will be attending with my 5yr old son this year and can not wait to see his reaction.

I am glad to hear they are bringing back this event. Though why change the show date from May until September We have another big airshow that same weekend in the region. Hope this show will be as good as shows in the past

I haven't been to an air show since I was a little girl and we lived on Andrews Air Force Base. My father retired in 1978 from there and I would love to take my children to see an air show there. I must agree on the timing though I would prefer it to be during the Summer time and not when school is in session.

I hope that by this not being a Joint Services Open house like in the past that will not result in minimal participation by other Services either in flight demos or static displays. I also hope the AF F-35A will finally be on static display and possibly fly at the event.
