tabAbout the base
Often called "The Gateway to the Nation's Capitol," Andrews is where not only our own military and government leaders, but kings, queens, prime ministers and military leaders from more than 50 nations fly in and out of as they travel to and from the National Capital Region.

Home to Air Force, Navy, Marine, Army and Civil Air Patrol units, approximately 13,000 people, including active duty, guard and reserve personnel and their families, civilian employees, and contractors live and/or work at Andrews, performing both routine and exceptional duties.

Legendary aircraft like the B-25 Mitchell Bombers and P-47 Thunderbolts have been stationed here, but the most recognizable aircraft to call Andrews home is a VC-25A whose call sign becomes Air Force One as soon as the President of the United States steps aboard.

The 11th Wing is host to more than 60 separate organizations here, and provides security, personnel, contracting, finance and infrastructure support for six Wings, two headquarters as well as 60,000 Airmen and families in the national capital region and around the world.
