The Airman & Family Readiness Center is the focal point for food assistance. A family seeking emergency food will be asked to seek a referral from the First Sergeant or Commander. Assistance is meant to be a short term, temporary solution to a crisis. Contact the Airman & Family Readiness Center, 301-981-7087.
This program is open to anyone interested in stretching food dollars. It is a self-help, non-profit food network. For $16.00 and 2 hours of volunteer work, participants receive a food package full of fresh produce, staples and frozen meats valued at $35.00. Please call the Airman & Family Readiness Center 301-981-7087 to find out how to become involved in the SHARE program. Pick-up points for the food baskets on and off base.
Women, Infant and Children Nutrition Program (WIC)
WIC is a federally funded program providing foods and nutrition counseling for pregnant or breastfeeding women, infants and children under age 5. Single fathers with infants and children under 5 may also apply for assistance which includes checks for healthy foods like milk, cheese, juice and cereal.
