DEPLOYMENT ASSISTANCE

CAR CARE BECAUSE WE CARE
Members on deployment for over 30 days are eligible for a free car safety check, oil and filter change made possible by the Air Force Aid Society. Vouchers are issued to family members with a copy of the military members orders. Members returning from deployment that did not use this benefit can get a voucher upon return. For information, call the Airman and Family Readiness Center at 301-981-7087.
FAMILY READINESS
Military members are required to attend a pre-deployment briefing prior to deploying for 30 days or more. This program provides information and resources to help members and their family prepare for deployment. Spouses are welcome and highly encouraged to attend. To sign up, call the Airman and Family Readiness Center at 301-981-7087.
HEARTS APART
The Hearts Apart program provides education, support and events for deployed family members. The program encourages spouses and children to share their strength and wisdom with others in a similar situation and helps build an informal support network for family members left at home. The Hearts Apart morale call program allows family members to call the deployed member once every 7 days via the base operator. For more information on Hearts Apart activities or to get registered for free morale calls, call the Airman and Family Readiness Center at 301-981-7087.
KEY SPOUSE PROGRAM
The Key Spouse Program ensures outreach, support and information is available to all spouses through unit volunteer Key Spouses. Activities include phone trees, e-mail groups, social and informational resources and activities. Key spouses work closely with First Sergeants and Commanders to ensure effective outreach. To volunteer or to find out the name of the Key Spouse for your unit, call the Key Spouse Coordinator at 301-981-7087.
